Just my response to this post:
…
REALLY?
Sure, Klink might not be the most inventive Pokemon in the world. It evolves into more gears.
But Voltorb is a pokeball that evolves into an upside-down pokeball. Grimer is a pile of purple goo that evolves into a BIGGER pile of purple goo. And Magnemite is a few magnets and screws that evolves into three combined Magnemite. Koffing, Diglett, Ditto, etc…
Sure, Charizard is an awesome dragon, but Hydreigon is NO less inventive. As well, there are other turtle Pokemon besides Blastoise, and there are other dinosaurs besides Venusaur.
Pokemon shouldn’t be hated just because they weren’t invented first. It’s like saying you’re a bigger Pokemon fan because you were born a few years before someone else.
Everyone has their own opinions, and that’s okay, but there’s no reason to go around basing every generation that was made after Kanto. If you want to dwell on Kanto Pokemon and limit yourself to 151, do it. It’s fine.
But when Kanto was the only generation, researchers like Bill and trainers like Ash knew that there were more than 151 Pokemon, and it was exciting to discover new ones.
The show is based on discovering new Pokemon. Then the new ones come out and people get mad about it.
EVERY Generation has both very interesting and very simple Pokemon. It’ll always be that way, so all the hating on new Generations is ridiculous.
Just focus on what you LOVE and stop HATING.
ALL OF THIS. ALL. OF. IT.
I don’t know how people can call these new generations unimaginative. Some are utter bullshit and it makes you wonder why they even put them in the games…
But look back at the first gen. It was so basic. Like the original pic showed, goo, magnet, balls, then there was also very basic designs like kakuna and meowth, which were direct ripoffs of real world animals/bugs. The legendaries were all just simple, yet colorful, birds, a cat, and a mutated cat. The plot of the first games was literally just, ‘hey, kid, I know you’re 10, but I’m too lazy to send adult researchers out to search for these dangerous monsters that could eat you, so I’ll send you! Catch all the pokemon! Beat the gyms and league, then do NOTHING! YEAH, FUN!’ It was short and easily beaten. Yes, nostalgia says it was the best… But really, it was shit.
3rd gen., in my opinion, had some of the most imaginative pokemon. 2nd gen. puts all other games, in story and length, to shame. 4th gen. was almost as bad as 1st., because of how short it was, but at least it added a few other quests to the basic Pokemon plot. 5th gen. has the most interesting baddies, though some of the pokemon were the stupidest looking to ever be created. 5th gen. also has a lot of nice extra things to do outside of the main quest.
Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, yeah. But my opinion is that each generation has it’s owns ups and downs, but all added a LOT of wonderful things to Pokemon. Each game outdoes the 1st games. Don’t let your childhood stop you from enjoying these games.
